Teacher and Pupil

Hello

My name is Heather Manfred. For the past 14 years, I’ve had the privilege of being a homeschool mom, walking with my children through every grade level. One of my greatest joys has been watching my daughter graduate from homeschooling. She is now working as an education coordinator, creating online courses, marketing, and graphic design (she designed this site and our logo) while attending school, and is well on her way to meeting her goal of opening her own business. I am also currently homeschooling my 13-year-old son, and together we are navigating this exciting stage of learning and growth.

Homeschooling has been one of the greatest blessings of my life—it’s taught me patience, creativity, and the joy of seeing kids truly light up when learning clicks. I’ve also enjoyed teaching science to 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders at Convenient Light Private School and the co-op, which provided me with even more opportunities to share my love of hands-on learning.

Along with homeschooling, I’ve been blessed to serve as a leader in children’s ministry at my church, where I helped kids grow in their faith and discover God’s love.  One of the most impactful opportunities was working directly with an orphanage in Haiti.

Over the years, I’ve also owned and operated both a faith-based preschool and a Real Estate School. While those experiences may seem very different, they both reflect my heart for helping people—whether it’s giving children a strong foundation or equipping adults to succeed in their careers.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time in the garden, preserving food, appreciating nature, and traveling whenever possible. These are passions I often bring into the learning experience because I believe children learn best when they’re actively engaged, curious, and having fun.

My Story

Academics and successful careers are important—but they are nowhere near the importance of knowing, loving, and living for Jesus. I am not raising my kids for this world, but for the next.

As I studied apologetics, I realized how important it is to teach our children not only the biblical truths they hear in church, but to also make sure their education aligns with the Bible. If they are being taught that dinosaurs lived millions of years before man, while the Bible says animals and man were created on the same day, what message are they really receiving? Topics like evolution, sexuality, and identity—these and many others are taught in public schools in ways that directly contradict God’s Word. The Bible is clear: “If you are not for Me, you are against Me.”

One moment that changed everything for me was when my daughter came home from school and asked me, “What’s another word for pray?” When I asked her why, she explained that she was writing a school paper and wanted to say that she prayed for our soldiers—but was told she couldn’t use the word “pray.” That was the moment I knew: I had to homeschool.

It has been such a blessing, and I am so grateful for the opportunity. But through this journey, I realized that many parents share the same beliefs and desires for their children, yet don’t have the same opportunity—whether due to work schedules or financial constraints.

That’s why Psalms 78 Ministry exists: to help change the idea that Christian education is only possible for stay-at-home parents or those with extra resources. My goal is to see every family have the opportunity for Christ-centered education, no matter their situation.
